Glamping Experience

Tor View Shepherds Huts are one of Somerset’s hidden gems. Perched high up on the Mendip Hills overlooking Glastonbury Tor in the distance, there’s no sign and no doorbell. You can only get to the Huts after receiving an e-mail with your special code and directions.

Lovingly handcrafted and designed to inspire, every feature adds to the feeling of exclusive luxury glamping.

Experience Off-Grid

Experience an Off-Grid break as Ted’s 12 volt electrics are powered and mainly charged by the solar panels installed on the roof! This provides plenty of power for the indoor and outdoor lighting as well as the USB power points, so you can rest assured that your smartphone, tablet or eBook reader can be charged using the wall mounted USB sockets. If you don’t wish to light the stove, we have installed an energy efficient electric radiator.

To be extra-sure of this, we have an automatic and on-board 12 volt battery top-up, for use mainly during the cooler/darker days (because we’re in England!).
There are no 3 pin plug sockets within the hut for devices that may require more power, offering you a real retreat from the modern world.

Electric Vehicle Charging Point

For Ted’s hut only, if you own a ‘Granny’ cable or 3-pin electric charging cable, you’ll be able to charge your vehicle on-site as a standard 3-pin outdoor electric socket is located next to the car parking space for Ted.

All we ask is that at the time of booking you request, select and pay for the number of times you wish to complete an overnight electric charge of your vehicle during your stay.

Our Reviews

We have lost count how many times we have stayed here now!

What we haven’t lost is how beautiful and peaceful it is. Phil & Amanada attention to detail has been A++ consistent every time. This weekend we have visited Hartley’s kitchen (best breakfast!) We went on the ESR steam train visited the Mendip hills picked up supplies up from Torners Farm shop visited Priddy where you can go to Deer leap and sit on a bench and see some breath-taking views, had a lovey meal in the queen Victoria friendly traditional pub. Our most favourite part always though is the hot tub at night looking at the stars at night and listing to all the birds we will be back again.

We have had a wonderful time. Blissfully relaxing and, well that’s it really – blissful. The bed was comfortable and waking up to that view with the deer quietly grazing was very special. No grand meal in any restaurant or pub could match the pleasure of a simple baked potato cooked on an open fire. You have made it a wonderful celebration of our 30 years of marriage.

“Since we booked this holiday we have been counting down the days. The expectation was surpassed by Len! We have done so much in our time here but most of all we have relaxed and enjoyed the peace. Cooked steaks in the fire pit, watched deer in ‘our’ field and listened to the owls around us. Lit the stove and cooked (windows & doors open) and constantly found new things hidden away. Thank you Phil & making us so welcome.”

Ted’s History

Nestling at the highest point of our front hayfield, and offering staggering views across the rural Mendips to Glastonbury Tor (and way beyond), you will find Ted’s Hut secluded away.

In the Somerset dialect ‘Ted’ means to turn hay so that it dries evenly into the perfect feed for the farm animals, ensuring that all the livestock are looked after in the best way possible. Ted’s Hut continues this approach today, ensuring that all visitors have everything they need to be rested, nurtured and are fully content.
